Winter Deliveries

Finally, we are seeing some lovely weather, the sun is shining!

However, it is still cold out there and we are busy out delivering to our LPG and wood pellet customers to ensure that we can keep you warm.

There are no national shortages of LPG, despite the reports that are coming in from the national supplier.

BDS Fuels, as an independent distributor of LPG and wood pellets, are able to manage getting fuel to our customers in a much more friendly and efficient way. Our customer service is one of the many reasons why our customers remain loyal.

If you are looking for a new supplier, give us a call today on 015242 76575 or email teamsales@bdsfuels.co.uk to find out more.

Westmorland Family Service Stations

BDS Fuels not only supply LPG to domestic properties, but also to commercial properties, and service stations as well.

We are really proud to say we supply to the UK's second and third best services stations in the UK, both owned by the Westmorland Family Group. They also own the top service station at Gloucester too. This is a massive achievement for them, and we are proud to be associated and supply the group.

Christmas and New Year 2023

Office Opening Hours

From us all here at BDS Fuels, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Why BDS Fuels?

Here at BDS Fuels, we have guidelines about not criticizing or calling out our competitors within the industry, but recently, so many of our new customers have told us such similar stories, that we thought it might be well worth sharing one of them with you.

Hear a Customers View . . .

“You were not quite the cheapest quote we had. However, being able to pick up the phone and talk to someone in person without being kept on hold for ever and ever is invaluable and worth every penny or two extra that we pay for our gas.

The time I have spent trying to get through to our old supplier to find out when our order is going to be processed is time I could have been using for doing something much more useful.  In addition, the anxiety that is caused by not knowing how or when our next delivery will be made is extremely stressful. Especially in the depths of winter when we can’t be sure our gas will last long enough before we run out.

Ringing up and getting an answer straight away from someone who can deal with my enquiry is well worth the little extra a year it may cost for my gas supply. It’s great value for money and the people in the BDS office are so helpful.”

Apprentice of the Year!

Well done Brenda! Not only has she passed her apprenticeship Level 3 Business Administration with Kendal College and BDS Fuels with a distinction - she also won an award for Apprentice of the Year. This is a massive achievement.

Brenda Luffman (pictured left) collected her award along with Angela Cox (pictured right) who mentored Brenda throughout.

We couldn't be prouder!

Wow has it really been that long?

Michael Smith our founder started selling gas cylinders in April 1983 when he was made redundant . . . some 40 years later we are here as BDS Fuels & Biomass offering local delivery throughout Cumbria, North Lancashire, North Yorkshire and the South West Scottish Borders, its great to be part of an amazing group of dedicated people who strive to bring you great service & value, here's to another 40 years.

ENplus Audit

Following a long and complicated audit back in late January, we had confirmation that we have passed our annual ENplus audit.

We passed with flying colours - we received no advisories, comments or failures. This was excellent news to us as the ENplus standards changed in 2022 and were much more stringent and higher requirements.

We were even more pleased to hear that we were the only pellet trader so far to fully pass.

Well done team BDS Biomass!

Congratulations 'Our Lass'

You may remember us telling you back in September 2021, of our two apprentices that just started with us. Both based out of Kendal College.

Well, 'Our lass' Brenda Luffman has just completed her Level 3 Business Administrator course, and she only passed with a Distinction!

We are so proud of her, and in fact, have made her a permanent employee.

Local Sponsorship

BDS Fuels and BDS Biomass are keen to support local events, charities and sports clubs.

We were approached by The Tri-Counties Tigers to see if we would be interested in sponsoring the new team and their kit and we were keen to get involved.

We supply KLRUFC with LPG to run their club house, an employees child plays for North Ribblesdale Minis & Juniors, and finally an employee and his son play for Penrith RUFC. So how could we say no to helping the girls team.

Gas Shortages? What Gas Shortages?

There are National news stories being published about gas shortages, and customers from large National LPG companies letting their customers run out of LPG.

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/jan/26/why-cant-avantigas-deliver-were-about-to-run-out-of-fuel

That is not the case here are at BDS Fuels! Supplies were tight and weather wasn't great in the run up to Christmas, but we made sure that we got to each and every customer.

Even through January and the start of February, the big three companies, are still experiencing issues.

Please call us if you are experiencing issues with your current supplier, and we will see if we are able to help.

To quote the MD:

"We manage the stress so you don’t have to!”

Energy Bills Support

Doing all we can . . .

We have had a few LPG customers ask if the Energy Bills Support is applicable to their accounts with BDS Fuels.

The support that is being offered by the Government is applicable to mains gas and therefore, not applicable to LPG supplies.

Please be assured we are doing all we can as a business to reduce our costs, and minimise the price increases to our customers.

EnPlus Annual
Audit

In among all the challenges we are currently facing as business (as are a lot of others), we all all still working really hard to ensure we maintain the high quality of the products and the service we offer.

This was proven again this week, when for the third year running, we have passed the EnPlus Annual Audit with no non-conformance's for the wood pellets side of our business.
We use the same principles for the LPG business too.

If you want to read all about EnPlus and the policies and procedures we have to adhere to to be a quality supplier, here is the link!

Business As Usual

Well, as much as possible, it is business as usual!

The telephones are still being manned 8.30am-4.30pm each day, although from the 'home offices'.
Our drivers are out every day doing LPG & wood pellet deliveries, observing all the guidelines with regards to safety and well-being for our staff and customers.

We are resuming new LPG tank installations, where social distancing is possible,

We are also receiving a high number of enquiries for LPG switches. If your existing supplier agreement is coming up for renewal or has expired, please do give us a call. We have some very competitive deals at the moment.

Finally, KEEP SAFE!

Update

Just a quick update to say we are still out and about delivering LPG and wood pellets.
Fuel is classed as a vital supply, and therefore, as much as possible under the current restrictions, it is business as usual.

Our phone lines are still open, as we have a dedicated office team who are working from their homes. We are having the odd technical issue, which considering we are all having to adapt to the way new way we are working, is to be expected and we thank our customers for their understanding,

No matter what happens we shall remain dedicated to our customers, to ensure there is as little impact as possible, for as long as possible.

As always, thank you for your ongoing custom and support and we wish you all good health.

COVID-19

Following on from our last news post, we are still out and about delivering LPG and wood pellets.
Fuel is classed as a vital supply, and therefore, as much as possible under the current restrictions, it is business as usual.

Our phone lines are still open, as we have a dedicated office team who are working from their homes. You may even be lucky enough to chat with our 'little helpers'.

We are still committed to following the strictest advice to deliver the highest standards of safety and hygiene for all our staff and customers. Please don't be offended if our drivers who love taking time to chat to our customers, are a little reserved and keep their distance. They are just trying to keep you and then safe.

Our drivers will no longer ask customers to sign paperwork themselves but, with agreement, will sign on their behalf.

Things are obviously changing very quickly but no matter what happens we shall remain dedicated to our customers to ensure there is as little impact as possible, for as long as possible.

As always, thank you for your ongoing custom and support and we wish you all good health.

COVID-19

As the world reacts to the impact of the Coronavirus, we just wanted to briefly take this opportunity to advise that here at BDS Fuels, it’s business as usual, or at least as normal as we can make it in the current circumstances.

Our driving and office teams are still fully operational. This means our phone lines will remain open as usual, with LPG and wood pellets deliveries continuing to our customers.

We are committed to following the strictest advice to deliver the highest standards of safety and hygiene for all our staff and customers.

Friday Fun!

A change of normality for this Friday!

Three of our drivers have taken part in refresher Hi-ab training which involves using slings when lifting gas tanks. Perfect for all the new installations we have lined up.

No January blues
here!

We are busy delivering LPG and wood pellets all around Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria this month.
We are very lucky to be able to live and work in such a fantastic part of the world.

Fire Safety

We take Health & Safety for our personnel very seriously, especially as we work with fuels.

It was a fabulous and enlightening session, and we all enjoyed putting out some fires!

Team Expansion

BDS Fuels are happy to announce we have expanded our wood pellet driving team with the arrival of Chris Chapman at the end of July.

Chris previously worked for AMP (Billington's) as their Transport Manager for their wood pellet depot at Langwathby.

He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of the industry to us, and strengthens our already fantastic driving team.

Welcome on board Chris!

Outstanding Commitment & Effort

Angela Postlethwaite, who is an Administrator here at BDS Fuels, has spent the last three years working full time, and studying at Kendal College completing NVQ Levels 2, 3 & 4 in Business.

All her hard work and determination has paid of this summer, as Angela was invited to attend the Kendal College awards ceremony following the completion of her apprenticeship. At the ceremony, Angela won an award for Outstanding Commitment and Effort.

As you can imagine, we are all so proud of what Angela has achieved. Her confidence and skills base have improved significantly.
